Welcome to Heart of Lao Travel
MY NAME IS KHAMHAK
My name is Khamhak, and I am a local guide and tour organizer specializing in authentic travel experiences throughout Northern Laos.
Since my teenage years, I have loved exploring the mountains, forests, and remote villages of Laos. I have been working as a professional tour guide since 2017, sharing the beauty and rich cultures of Northern Laos with travelers from around the world.
I was born and raised in an ethnic minority village, giving me a deep understanding of local traditions and daily life. I speak several local languages as well as fluent English, which I learned through college. This experience has given me extensive knowledge of the landscapes, cultures, and ethnic communities of Northern Laos.
I specialize in private or group, customized tours designed around your interests, travel style, and schedule.

TREKKING IN BUONTAI (PHONGSALY PROVINCE)
Buontai is in the middle part of Phongsaly Province, Northern Laos and is the most remote but most beautiful province in the country. It has forests, and mountain rice and cardamom fields. The trips offered here are for the more adventurous, but they are definitely very rewarding as some parts remain relatively untouched.
TREKKING IN PHONGSALY ( Phongsaly Province)
Phongsaly is tucked away in the northeast of Laos and is one of the most beautiful provinces in the country. It is also one of the most remote areas, with authentic hill tribe villages where many local people, especially women, still wear their beautiful traditional clothes.
The province has lakes, forests, mountain rice fields, and cardamom plantations, as well as amazing landscapes and viewpoints. In the morning, the mountains are often covered by a sea of clouds, and in the evening you can enjoy incredible sunsets before night falls.
The trips offered here are for more adventurous travelers, but they are definitely very rewarding, as some parts of the area remain relatively untouched.

SUPPORT THE LOCALS!
Some of the villages we will visit and stay in may be economically challenged. They would deeply appreciate a gift. This could include pens, pencils, and paper for the students. Another excellent option is sports equipment for the children or soap and vegetable seeds. In certain villages, locals sell indigo products, which also greatly supports them.
CUSTOMS & HYGIENE
Some of the villages we will visit are located in remote areas. The residents in these areas typically do not have toilets and take showers in open public spaces.
The customs of some of the tribes we visit are different than in the city. Always heed the recommendations of your guide, as customs can vary among different ethnic groups.
